About Joseph Wooden Crosses
Hello my name is Joseph Bachner.
I would like to thank you for stopping by to view my hand made wooden Celtic Crosses and for giving me this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself and how I got started in making celtic crosses. All of the art work in my crosses is of my own inspiration, design and cut.
My shop is located in historic Gloucester County Virginia not far from Yorktown where our country won it’s independence in the decisive battle of the Revolutionary War. I am originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and one of seven children from a large Christian family.
I come from a long line of carpenters and wood workers. My father and grandfather were carpenters at J & L Steel in Pittsburgh, PA. It is through them my interest in wood working has its roots. I inherited all of my father’s wood working tools when he passed away in 1994.
I came up with the idea of making wooden crosses and Irish Celtic wall Crosses after my mother returned home from a trip to Ireland. I gave many of them as gifts to my family and they liked them so much that I decided to market them to the general public. Over the years after making those first few 16 inch Celtic Crosses it has seemed to grow and evolve into larger sizes and with inlay work.
I use many of the same tools my father used to make my crosses. There are times when I pick up an old chisel or plane that my father used and it seems to have his skill honed into it from over the years when he used them. I love that feeling. My first original 16 inch wood celtic wall crosses that I started making can still be found and ordered by contacting me through this web site.
There is also a spiritual connection I receive in making Religious and Celtic Crosses. I feel that this is a gift to me for making them. It gives me a good feeling knowing that a spiritual connection may also be experienced by someone else who acquires one of my Crosses.
I also at times do custom work as well and will work closely with church planning committees, plans and drawings.
My Unconditional Guarantee
Each cross I make is considered by others and myself a work of art. No art work leaves my shop until I am satisfied. This is my unconditional guarantee to you.
